About Sammy
I grew up on an arable farm in South Norfolk. Farming isn't something I studied from the outside, it's the life I grew up in, and the life I still live today as a farmer's wife.
I studied Animal Science at Newcastle University, then spent years working in rural business: marketing and business coordination at a rural surveyors, then residential sales at a national property firm, before training as a leadership coach.
That combination matters. I understand rural business from the inside, and I've built a career understanding people, pressure and performance. When I work with a farmer, a farm manager or an agricultural organisation, I'm not guessing at your world. I live in it.
Why I do this
I've seen what pressure does to people in agriculture: the long hours, the isolation, the responsibility that never really switches off. Farming remains the most dangerous industry in the UK for workplace deaths, and farmer mental wellbeing is at its lowest point in four years (HSE 2025/26; Farm Safety Foundation 2026). I started coaching because I wanted to help change that, one farm, one leader, one team at a time.
What I do
As an ICF-accredited coach and Mindspan Consultant, I combine positive psychology, NLP and Mindspan frameworks with real agricultural experience, working 1:1 and with teams to build the resilience, leadership and communication skills that a high-pressure industry demands. My approach is practical, not theoretical: tools you can use on a Monday morning, not frameworks that sit in a folder.
My Approach
I don't believe in generic leadership training or one-size-fits-all programmes.
Every agricultural business, organisation and farming community faces different challenges. That's why I take the time to understand what's happening beneath the surface before recommending a solution.
Whether the issue is staff retention, leadership, communication or sustained pressure, my programmes are designed around the realities of agriculture - not corporate case studies.
My approach is practical, interactive and discussion-led. People don't learn by sitting through presentations. They learn by reflecting on real situations, sharing experiences and leaving with practical tools they can use straight away.
I create safe, supportive environments where people feel able to talk honestly about the challenges they're facing. Those conversations often lead to the greatest change.
At the heart of my work is a simple belief:
When people understand themselves better, communicate more effectively and recognise pressure earlier, they make better decisions - for themselves, their teams and their businesses.
