The people side of agricultural business

Keep your good people. Get your leaders leading, not just doing.

When something isn’t working with your people and you can’t quite see what it is, I work with your senior leaders and teams to find out what’s really going on and what needs to change.

Good people don’t usually leave agriculture because they dislike the work

Good people leaving. Managers struggling to lead. Teams not pulling together. Difficult conversations being avoided.

These are often signs that something deeper is going on.

It might be a leadership issue, a problem with communication, or a team that isn't working as well as it needs to. Before deciding what to do, it helps to understand what's really happening.

I help leaders look beyond the obvious, understand what's happening beneath the surface and work out what needs to change.

What changes when we work together

A senior team pulling in one direction. Managers who have the conversations they currently avoid. Good people who choose to stay.

I start by understanding what’s really happening, then we work out what needs to change. That might be leadership coaching, team facilitation, training or a longer partnership with your business.

Corporate experience. Farming roots.

My career has taken me through corporate roles in investment banking, media and property, followed by ten years working for a rural surveying company.

I also grew up on a farm in Norfolk and am married to a farmer. I understand the realities of agricultural life, as well as the challenges of leading people and running a business. I know “just get on with it” only works for so long.

I bring these perspectives together to help agricultural businesses make sense of their people challenges and decide what to do next.

What leaders say after working with me

You don't need to have the problem fully worked out before contacting me. Let's talk about what's happening and what kind of support might help.
